A project of this nature will be incomplete without a team of scholars. The aim of the Islam and Peace Project is to form an intellectual resource pool of Islamic and Research scholars from which to draw from to prepare scholarly works on Islam, peace and modernity. The project further aims to facilitate researches through this pool of Islamic and Research Scholars and publish and disseminate the interim and conclusive findings of the research/s. The present team of scholars comprises of:
Islamic Scholars
Professor Farida Khanam, Professor, Department of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Having a doctorate in Islamic Studies, Professor Khanam has vast experience in the field of Islam and the modern age, Seerah, Sufism, Peace and more. She is the editor of the English Quran translation of Maulana Wahiduddin Khan and has authored and translated various books. She is, further, a regular contributor of articles and presents Islam based on peace and spirituality.
Dr Abroo Aman Andrabi is an Associate Professor, Department of Islamic Studies, Jamia Hamdard. Having a doctorate degree on Muhammad Asad: His Contribution to Islamic Learning she has authored Prophet Muhammad: The Man and The Message and is a regular contributor of articles to journals. Some of her contributions are detailed below.
Dr. Naghma Siddiqi holds a doctoral degree in Islam and peace. She is an editor of the monthly magazine, Spirit of Islam and a regular contributor of articles in journals and newspapers, specifically on Islam, peace and modernity. She is presently developing and running the Certificate Courses of the CPS International Education Program and is the Coordinator of the CPS International Academic Coordinator.
Dr. Sadia Khan holds a doctorate degree in Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (). She has, further, authored many books such as My first ABC from the Quran and is a regular contributor of Islamic articles to newspapers. She has also worked on a Spirituality documentary for which she has interviewed President Abdul Kalam, Dr. Karan Singh, Sir Mark Tully, the Bishop of Kingston, the Rt. Rev. Richard Cheetham, Astronaut Charles Duke Jr. and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Rajat Malhotra has completed his PhD in a “A Study of the Arabian Society after the Advent of Islam with Specific reference to the Life of Prophet Muhammad.” Besides being the CPS International Education Program Global Coordinator, he is a regular contributor of articles on Islam and modernity like peace, democracy, jihad and more to various journals. He is a regular participant and organizer of interfaith and Islamic programs.
Research Scholars
Maria Khan is pursuing her doctorate degree from the Department of Islamic Studies, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. The topic of her PhD is Quranic Concept of Dawah: Contemporary Relevance. She is an editor of Spirit of Islam and a regular contributor of articles in newspapers and journals. She is also a presenter of television programs like Islam for Kids on ETV Urdu and a regular participant and speaker in interfaith and peace conferences and seminars globally. She is an editor of the CPS Academic Team.
Sufia Khan is a PhD candidate at the Department of Islamic Studies, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. The topic of her PhD is Nonviolence in the Teachings of Prophet Muhammad and its Contemporary Relevance. She has a master’s degree in Islamic Studies from the Department of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. She qualified JRF/NET in 2015. She is a regular speaker in various interfaith efforts and has participated in various international conferences such as the ISNA Convention in Chicago, USA in 2011 and 2015; and the RIS Convention in Toronto, Canada in 2015. She is an editor of the CPS Academic Team.
